Pokemania
It started about a month or so ago. At first it was just about watching Pokemon every 7.30pm on Cartoon Network. Luigi’s allowed to watch one 30-minute show a day so that’s just fine. Then he discovered the Pokemons at Toy World that sell for an outrageous 120 pesos each, considering that the toy doesn’t do anything and is not even taller than an inch. He begged and whined and of course eventually we bought him two of them. Then a few days later, one of his classmates gave him a few Pokemon cards, quite similar I guess to the Magic the Gathering cards that I used to play with. Almost everyday after that Luigi would ask to stop by this roadside store on the way home from school to buy more Pokemon things. At least the toys here are only worth 5 pesos at most. I don’t know what it is about Pokemons that has him hooked. He’s even willing to work around the house to earn money so he can buy Pokemon cards! He used to draw anything and everything under the sun but now he only draws guess what? Yup, pokemons. The first thing he says to me most mornings is what pokemon character was in his dream. Crazy, that’s what it is. I am really hoping this will end soon. Right now, I can hear him singing the Pokemon song downstairs…We all live…in a pokemon world…
